Yes. But consult your doctor and read in the drug’s leaflet whether there are any contraindications to using the OMX probiotic during therapy.

Can I take Dr.Ohhira® OM-X probiotics together with antibiotics?

Yes. This is even recommended because antibiotics (especially if taken for a long time) weaken our bacterial flora. This applies not only to the gastrointestinal tract, but also to the mouth, skin and, in women, to the good bacteria populating the vagina. Take the probiotic at least one hour after taking the antibiotic dose. If you take it early, you will definitely reduce its effectiveness. Take the treatment during and a few weeks after antibiotic therapy.

This applies not only to the gastrointestinal tract, but also to the mouth, skin and, in women, to the good bacteria populating the vagina. Don’t. However, for a few days, as the body gets used to the new probiotics, temporarily the aforementioned gastrointestinal complaints may occur.

General questions about probiotics

What are probiotics?

Probiotics is a common term for a family of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus) that are extremely beneficial to human health. Probiotics live in the gastrointestinal tract, help us properly digest and absorb nutrients, produce B vitamins and produce substances that inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria. They also strengthen our immune system.

What factors make the intestinal flora unhealthy?

Factors that disrupt the balance of intestinal flora include: antibiotics used to treat various diseases, as well as antibiotic residues in meat and dairy meat products (often the drugs are given to farm animals), chlorinated and fluoridated water, prolonged stress, a diet high in sugar and simple carbohydrates (such as fast food), UV exposure, oral contraceptives, the presence of parasites in the body, and frequent constipation.

What symptoms indicate that our intestinal flora is not healthy?

Poor intestinal microflora can be indicated by, for example: acne, eczema, other skin problems, lesions on the skin of the feet, allergies and chronic food sensitivities (e.g. lactose intolerance), bad breath and gum disease, chronic fatigue, chronic candida problems, difficulty reducing weight, reflux, frequent colds and other infections, frequent constipation or diarrhea, joint pain or inflammation, ulcer disease, trouble sleeping, increased discomfort during menstruation, increased menopausal discomfort.

Why is there not enough probiotic bacteria in our daily diet?

Many chemicals are used to industrially grow the plants and animals we eat. They destroy these good bacteria. Most crops grow on soil devoid of all beneficial organisms.

Mass-produced foods are generally over-processed, a process that even includes products such as milk and bread with modified “nutrients and fillers.” They are not only harmful to the intestinal flora, but also have no nutritional value. However, we can heal the gut by eating natural foods that contain the bacteria we need. Such a diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

How much beneficial bacteria should be in the digestive tract?

There are billions of bacteria in the human digestive tract. Scientific studies indicate that the ratio of good to bad bacteria must be at least 85:15. To maintain this balance, we need to provide both probiotic and prebiotic support to the gut.

Remember that not all probiotic supplements are the same. Some that boast of having “billions” of bacteria may actually provide too many “pieces” of bacteria from one strain, causing the immune system to react as if it were a potential threat.

Another mistake that many consumers make is supplementing only with probiotics, without taking any prebiotics. Prebiotics are substances that help nourish bacteria and, along with organic acids, encourage supplemented probiotics to settle in the gut. Prebiotics also nourish our own pre-existing probiotic strains, which are completely unique to each person.

How do probiotics support the immune system?

About 70% of immune system cells are located in the gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics support these cells by, among other things, driving out unfriendly visitors. The gut is the first line of immune defense, to stay healthy we need a healthy population of friendly bacteria.

Why should I choose Dr.Ohhira® OM-X probiotic?

We guarantee that in OMX the live bacteria will “take”: a probiotic supplement is helpful when the beneficial bacteria actually settle in the digestive tract and support the body’s ability to create its own unique probiotic strains.

The OMX supplement contains live bacteria (not freeze-dried or centrifuged) that are sure to integrate with the bacteria already living in the colon.

What is the duration of treatment with Dr.Ohhira® probiotics?
